We sat down with Dr. Manasa Mantravadi, a board-certified pediatrician and Founder/CEO at AHIMSA to discuss the impacts of plastics, PFAS, and lead on children during their developmental years and how to avoid exposing your family to these harmful chemicals in your home.

Dr. Manasa Mantravadi is a board-certified pediatrician who practices in Indiana as a Pediatric Hospitalist where she cares for children who are ill enough to be admitted into the hospital She received her medical degree from IU School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Northwestern University/Lurie Children’s Hospital. She trained at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for a fellowship in Endocrinology.

Dr. Mantravadi launched the world’s first company specializing in colorful stainless steel dishes for kids, Ahimsa, after the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) highlighted the growing evidence of chemicals in plastic harming children’s health. The company has been featured in Parents Magazine and was the recipient of The Good Housekeeping Parenting Awards 2021. 

Plastics are everywhere and they pose significant risks to children’s health in ways we are only starting to understand. The chemicals that shape plastic are endocrine disrupting—meaning they mimic our hormones and can significantly impact the development of human children.

Dr. Mantravadi sat down with PPC Co-Founder & Managing Director Julia Cohen to discuss the impacts of plastics, PFAS, and lead on children during their developmental years and how to avoid exposing your family to these harmful chemicals in your home.
